, one of the UK’s intelligence agencies, is running a National Language Competition from 7-11ÌýNovember 2022 aimed at Year 9 pupils across the country. Schools can enter teams of up to four Year 9 pupils to take part. Over the course of five days, teams will score points by tackling a variety of fun, immersive, language-themed challenges of varying difficulty levels hosted on a virtual platform.
All students will be able to take part, no prior knowledge is required, only a keenness for languages. GCHQ want Year 9 pupils across the UK to have fun using languages to solve the challenges, and to be inspired to continue with their language learning at GCSE level and beyond.
The winning team with the most points at the end of the competition will be invited to GCHQ’s Headquarters in Cheltenham and will be presented with their trophy by Director, Sir Jeremy Fleming.
To take part, schools can email nlc@gchq.gov.uk. GCHQ will add you to their mailing list and will share with you more news of the competition over the coming months, including information on how to sign up at the start of the new academic year.
