Founded in 1982 by the late Ruth Robertson MCIL, the Scottish Society represents about 300 members from all over Scotland and meets four times a year – normally in February, May, September and November – with the AGM being held as part of the November meeting.
To accommodate as many members as possible, the Society rotates its venues across Scotland for its face-to-face events, which normally consist of presentations by one or more guest speakers and a social activity such as a pre-event lunch or post-event drinks (or both). Â
Scottish Society events offer valuable networking opportunities as well as contributing to Continuous Professional Development.  Non-ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ members are also welcome to attend. Details of events are published on these Scottish Society web pages and Eventbrite.Â
The Scottish Society has its own Twitter account containing information about the forthcoming events, and we endeavour to start including various features on some aspects of languages and, wherever possible, small contributions from members. Be sure to to stay up to date.
If you are interested in supporting the Scottish Society we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Simply fill in our Online Eligibility Check form and a member of the committee will contact you for a no obligation discussion.
The Scottish Society AGM will be held on Saturday 17 November at 3pm in the Banker Suite at the Mercure Glasgow City Hotel, 201 Ingram Street, Glasgow, G1 1DQ. All Scottish Society members are invited to attend the AGM which will take place after the presentation ‘Gaelic Education and Language Planning’.
The Agenda will be as follows:
Copies of the Minutes of the AGM held in Glasgow on Saturday 25 November 2017 are available here. If you have any questions about the AGM, please contact the Chair of the Scottish Society at scottishsociety@ciol.org.uk
