The Language Show Live opened its doors for the first time at the weekend in Scotland, and ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ was among the exhibitors at the inaugural show north of the border.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s Head of Membership Jane Galbraith and Business Development Manager Matthias Postel were there to speak to visitors about  and professional  and how together they can enhance the careers of linguists. Jane and Matthias were supported by members of ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s  who kindly gave their time to help out on the stand.
During the show, Matthias delivered a presentation on the value of languages at work, focusing on the organisation’s new qualification, the , aimed at schools, colleges and universities, and also spoke in the Careers Forum on Careers in Translation and Public Service Interpreting.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ member Jaquelina Guardamagna delivered a presentation on inspiring confidence and enhancing credibility as a linguist. Sue Leschen, also a ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ member,  held a session on Confidentialtiy Issues for Freelance Interpreters and Translators in which she talked about ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½â€™s , a code designed to afford protection to both ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ members and their clients.
A major event during the show was the workshop Translating Europe: Young People in Translation, hosted jointly by the EU, ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ and ITI. There was standing room only for this panel discussion of young people making their way successfully in the translation sector, as they outlined their career paths and gave advice to aspiring translators.
ÌìÃÀ´«Ã½ will be back at the Language Show at London's Olympia in October.
